Frosty the Snowman came for a visit!

Posted on by 0 comment

Today was the first time I got out of the house in a week, and boy did it feel good.  We had the blizzard and then I got sick and today was the first day I even felt half alive.

The kids made a snowman during all this and I took pictures from the comfort of our nice warm dining room.  Which I was very lucky to do considering many people in Arkansas still do not have power and they have told them 7 days until they will.

Jonathan, my nephew, started out making the snowman and as soon as Tori, Michael and Skylar figured out what was going on, they hightailed it out there and had to help of course.

Frosty ended up with gum-drop eyes and mouth, a cinnamon stick for his nose, gum balls for his buttons, my scarf and Razorback straw hat, and Alix’s gloves.  My tree in the back yard had already donated his arms to the cause.

I think he turned out really well.  Here is Jonathan with the snowman.

Later on in the evening Addie, my sister-in-law who lives across the street, called me and told me there was a really weird mist outside and I needed to go look.  When I went looked, the mist was only around her and John’s house.

Totally weird.  I kept waiting for the big spiders to come out and crawl all over her house.

Thanks Stephen King.

Have you been enjoying your snow?

Merry Christmas!

2012 Silent NIght Christmas Card

Merry Christmas from our house to yours. I hope you have all had as great a Christmas as I have had.

Decked the halls, y’all!!

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas around here.   It should with only two weeks left.  I thought I would share with you what has been going on around here.

Knucklehead and I got the tree out  (with the help of Uncle John who got it out of the attic for us) and we set it up.  Then we plugged in our PRE-LIT tree to find that only half of it was pre-lit.

Pre-lit tree, not so pre-lit

Totally bummed, I had to run up to the Dollar General store and buy some lights to fill in the dead spots.  I did, and Knucklehead when to decorating.  I’m lucky if he placed one ornament every thirty minutes or so.

After a VERY long night, with both of us wanting to kill each other by the end of it, the tree was finally finished and I did the rest of the decorations while Knucklehead and Ringo watched TV.  We finished at 1:00 am.  I was whooped but the end result looks good and both Knucklehead and I survived and still love each other.

Booyah!  Can’t ask for more than that.

The Decorations Christmas 2012

I took several pictures of Ringo by the tree as I wanted to get one of him with his ears up but I was making him sit and stay, right in front of the tree and he thought he was in trouble so his ears never came up. Here he is anyway.

Then I took some shots of Knucklehead which I love, so here are a few. I love to get close up shots of people’s faces. I want to remember every little line, dimple or freckle. Sometimes dirt, but that’s what little boys are for.

And my favorite of all time:

Cameron, my step-son and who I call CamWow, but Skylar calls Camera, came in over the week-end and I took some shots of him and Knucklehead and this is what I got.

Knucklehead and CamWow

I do believe CamWow was about to rub a bald spot on Knucklehead’s head, but he didn’t. Then we had to have the obligatory wrestling match of which Ringo had to get involved in. I love the fact that they are jumping around and in the background on the TV Tom Hanks and Elizabeth Perkins are jumping on the trampoline in the movie “Big”. I’ve been getting great photo bombs from the TV lately.

Also, if you will take a moment to look at the bottom half of the tree in the above picture of the kids, you will notice the rest of the pre-lit lights on the tree went out. YAY!! Another trip to the store, hence the new lights on the couch and I should tell you, it is no fun trying to stick lights on an already decorated tree. Alix stuck them on for me and now it looks good, but that tree is going in the trash after Christmas and I’ll be getting me a flocked tree next year. So get ready family!

Here is my little Skylar in front of the tree, he is such a cutie.

Skylar Higginbotham

Lastly, I have been going to a few Christmas parties and I believe I have worn more makeup in the last two weeks than I have all year.  There’s not much point in getting all fancied up here on the compound, it’s not like the chickens care, so it’s been a treat to get all “Dolled” up and roll out on the big town of Heber Springs.  LOL.

Anyway, I took this picture to send to The Hubs before the DAV Christmas party, just to remind him I can clean up a bit so it turned out pretty good and I guess I’ll share it.  I hardly ever post pictures of myself but I’ll do it this time.  At least I don’t have duckface.  LOL

Knucklehead has prepared his Christmas list and placed it in his wish box under the tree.  I was pretty impressed with his list, it wasn’t much and it’s all affordable stuff so it should be easier this year.

After all this activity when I just want to sit down and watch TV and relax, it seems I always have to fight for the remote.  Do you have this problem at your house?  Even Ringo hogs the remote.  He loves Cesar, the Dog Whisperer!  He does cry when he watches Animal Hoarders though so I have to try to avoid that.

Ringo hogging the remoteSo, that’s it.  I’m going to go and fight for the remote and watch a sappy love story or a Christmas movie.

I hope you all are enjoying getting ready for Christmas, I am but next on the list is shopping.

Thanksgiving 2012

I hope you all are as stuffed as we are around here.  We had a great time yesterday on Thanksgiving.

Knucklehead and I started the day off by posting a video with good wishes on Facebook.  Of course, he had to add his own flare to the end of it.

Then I got busy and set the two tables for our feast.

Dining Room Table

This is the smaller table I have set up in the kitchen:

Small TableThe night before Knucklehead and I made a banner that we hung on the mantle.  We downloaded a printable, cut it out attached the string and then we hung it.  Took about 20 minutes.

Our Mantle

Then I have to say, I forgot to take a picture of the Food before we started eating.  I probably couldn’t have even if I had thought of it.  As soon as it was ready, man everyone was on it like vultures.  We were hungry!  Also, Shrek had to photobomb the food shot.  I cracked up when I saw this picture.

Food photobombed by ShrekThis is my Mom and Dad.  I love them.

Knucklehead, I swear some parents have to worry about their kids not liking to have their picture taken.  Not so with Knucklehead.  He was saying, “Take a picture of me, take a picture of me.”  So I did, here it is.

KnuckleheadThen I set the camera up on the stand and took some group pictures.

This is my brother John, Addie his wife, Eddie and Bette.

The GangThen as everyone was leaving, and I was walking them out and not paying attention to the living room area, I guess a certain someone decided to do a self-portrait.  When I started working on the pictures for this post, lo and behold I found this picture on the camera.

Knucklehead self portraitThat Knucklehead!  Never a dull moment I tell you.

If you didn’t notice, The Hubs is missing from my photos.  He had to take a job in Indianapolis and while I am very thankful for that, he will be there for at least six months and I miss him terribly.  The good news is, my wonderful cousin Robert Cowan lives there and they had The Hubs over for Thanksgiving.  He sent me these pictures.  Sorry for the fuzzy-ness of them.

The Hubs.

Holly and ChrisSo all in all, it was a great holiday.  I missed The Hubs, Justin and William.  Justin is in Alabama with his father, and William is in Colorado going to school and loving it.

I guess most people are out today doing all that crazy holiday shopping.  I just can’t bring myself to do that so it’s tradition in my family to put up Christmas decorations the day after Thanksgiving so that’s what I will be doing today.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!  I hope your holiday was a good as mine.  I feel very blessed.
