My DNA results are in!

My results are in, and it’s official.

I’m a mutt.  You heard it here first people.

But aren’t we all if you get right down to it?

My DNA Results

87% Brittish Isles – no shock there.

6% Finnish/Volga-Ural – I have to say I’m a little surprised at this one.  I have a cousin on my maternal side that has traced my Anderson line to Friesland but that is just above Germany in Finland. I also have on my maternal side known German ancestry, but that is as close as I get on what I have found so far.  I know this test is supposed to go back thousands of years and the results are probably due to migration.

7% Uncertain – I’m wondering if due to the migration patterns of the native Americans, and if my 3rd great-grandmother was Cherokee, where are those results?  In the 7% uncertain?  Some say it falls in the Finnish/Volga-Ural results, but I have no clue.

I hope Ancestry.com will soon make the raw data results available to us so I can compare it on some other sites and see if I can narrow it down more.

The good news is I found a third cousin on my maternal side from a line I was hoping to find a connection to.  In fact, I made a post a while back about looking for a descendant of that line, you can see it here.  Apparently, all I had to do was take the DNA test!  This made it so worth while!

I have over 100 matches, and most of them are so remote that I don’t know if I will ever figure out how I relate to them.  It’s going to take a lot of work!

I welcome any input any of you might have on this, so please leave a comment!
